jonas alexander (or j.a) is a filmmaker, DJ, and event curator based in Paris, France. Born in Brussels to an Afro-American mother and Dutch father, j.a has cultivated a multidisciplinary career that bridges storytelling, music, and cultural exploration.
Since graduating the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts in Paris, he released several films, including 'Nymphose' (produced by Srab Films), 'Rouge Douleur', and 'L’indifférence du Temps,' which received acclaim for their nuanced narratives and visual poetry. He is currently preparing his next short film, 'Sueur,' alongside his feature-length project, 'Histoire de Quelqu’un Qui Disparaîtra.'
In the music world, his genre-defying DJ sets have been featured on platforms like Boiler Room and NTS, and have brought him from New York to Madrid. He is a regular fixture at major cultural events, including the Cannes Film Festival and the Listen Festival in Brussels. Alongside TSIP he curates the energetic 1-800-BOOTY events which blend genres like footwork / juking, rap, bounce, ghetto tech and more to create inclusive and unforgettable nightlife experiences.
Through his films and music, jonas alexander shapes narratives that question societal constructs while remaining deeply relatable, making him a vital voice in contemporary culture.
